Electric Dough Pizza Co.

It’s so nice to see downtown San Marco thriving with folks of all ages. It was sad when the theater closed, but Electric Dough has been a wonderful addition to the area. It’s a beautiful restaurant with an inviting atmosphere. Everyone that works here is so nice. The pizza is delicious and a nice change of pace. I don’t know where they get their gelato, but it is top notch! Definitely give it a try!

Kind of a shame this place didn’t live up to the hype. I live right down the street and wish I could say I’d go back. Cool building, clean and exciting venue but the food was just okay and way overpriced. Pictured below is our $15 micro cocktail, $2.15 ranch for ants, and our $28 pizza with a whopping crumb of sausage on each slice. Happy to pay a premium but the food was just nowhere near worth it.

We visited electric dough today for lunch and it was very good. We enjoyed our pizza and salad. The atmosphere is great. Service still has a few kinks but we know they just opened and they are working on it all of it. The only knock I will give it is for the chairs at the tables. It is a combination of booth and chairs which is great. The chairs though are declined at a weird pitch for dining. I feel like I am lounging if I sit as intended which feels strange when sitting at a table to dine. I had to move forward in the chair to find a comfortable spot and I noticed other diners in the chairs doing the same thing. I admit to being very aware of this as I am an interior designer by trade and design educator. We look forward to adding Electric Dough to our neighborhood dining rotation.

First, this is not a horrible place and the ambiance is decent - It’s a historic building that used to be a movie theater. It is fun, loud, and entertaining to some degree. The hard parts are that it is very, very crowded and it’s a counter order format where you order, pay, and then find your own table. For an exciting new pizza place, I was expecting good pizza. The pizzas coming off the line looked amazing. The pizza looks much better than it tastes. The pizza is plain, very bready, and very little tomato sauce. The pepperoni is worse than the kind that comes out of a ziplock bag from the grocery store. It just wasn’t impressive. The bar set up is nice and fancy - but since I don’t drink alcohol, it didn’t mean much. The gelato looked good, but it was served in very tiny portions so I opted not to try it. It didn’t look worth the price for the amount. I wanted to like it. I really did. Overall, it was filling but I expected much, much more.

I live local to this place. We think Electric Dough is a great addition to the San Marco neighborhood. The owner / operator is committed to quality of food and experience as he’s demonstrated in many other great local restaurants. We are pleased they’ve maintained the energy and feel of the historic movie theater that was previously in the spot. The interior design is a great example of preserving and improving what came before. Look for little clues like the screen showing old movies. The pizza is great and is quite similar to that served at Prati Italia. Our only suggestion for menu enhancement comes from my wife who asks for a broader selection of salads. Give this new San Marco icon a try!

This place is so cool. Love the ambience, the environment and the bar area. I love that they kept the original theater bones, and did a fantastic job infusing their own unique aesthetics. A few hiccups during our service, wrong pizza was given, & my son’s pizza was burnt (he didn’t complain) all was right in the end. Ultimately Sabrina is the star of the show- that girl should be manager or some kind of leadership, as she displayed all the characteristics of being a great leader. Emily was fantastic as well, and graciously welcomed all the feedback. Food wise- we got the Godfather, great pizza. Caesar salad wasn’t anything to write home about, but their Mediterranean salad was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Excited to come back and eat here again, because the atmosphere is so fun.

This is a great place for a change of pace. The service was outstanding and the food just as good. Would recommend to any pizza lover or someone that's wants to try something just a little different. Will be back.

First time trying to this San Marco restaurant. Initial impression was 'wow,' this place has a great vibe. The decor and design is really beautiful and makes you want to snuggle in. We ordered the Caprese pizza and, never having had this type of pizza, were surprised by how thick and doughy it was. It was good, but not great. The cheesy edges saved it, but the toppings were just sparse. I felt like I was eating a savory doughnut without much substance. Way too doughy for my taste. While it's a nice place to visit for the ambiance, not sure how often I'd go for this type of speciality and highly expensive pizza. It definitely is in the right neighborhood, but won't cater to the average working pocketbook. Would love to see an option to order non-doughy pizza. And for the price of a tap beer, should be a full pour, not a 3/4 pour.

Electric Dough Pizza Co. Bar was a former movie theater. And packs all the history and the one ‘electrifying’ place we like the back bar just look for the multiple chandeliers in the back and let the party begin. The staff is fun and used to high volume energy and super talented fun people that live in San Marco. Being from LA we dont eat but are a thirsty duo. We only drank here, but the delicious pizza smells good enough to feel like we were eating it as well. I promise when we’re back we’ll have something other than strong and well-made drinks that your bartenders are extremely good at.

I was looking forward to patronizing this establishment after reading some great reviews. I wish I could say my experience was equally great. The only good thing about my experience were the very friendly employees who went out of their way to warmly greet me. The copious quantity of hot peppers and super hot pepper dressing made my $12 Mediterranean salad inedible. It was like eating fire. I had to throw it out. My gluten free pizza was the smallest GF pizza I’ve ever had and it was burnt around the edges. I hope the restaurant was just having an off day & does not normally serve this quality of food. It’s disappointing to spend $30 plus on a takeout order, for which I left a good tip, that was basically inedible. I almost never post bad reviews but I feel my experience warrants a very honest review so management can work toward providing their customers with a better experience than mine.
