This is a hard one to rate. The sandwiches were good. I missed the kraut on the Reuben but I guess that's their version. The sides, pasta salad and potato salad, both had an overly sweet cloying dressing. The space has a legendary feel to it. The massive and simple menu sign on the wall has loads of character. The serving staff was very pleasant. But what we presumed to be one of the new owners was rude and disdainful. He clearly doesn't understand that customers are the point. Couldn't have been made to feel less welcome. Good luck to you.

I’d give them 10 stars if I could. Came on a Saturday, our waitresses were incredible, so was the guy that made our sandwich! Just some genuine people. Everything was fresh and you can’t beat the prices. Can’t wait to come back.

I had the pleasure of visiting Breit's on the recommendation from a friend that lives in KC. I was passing through town and looking for a neighborhood bar to have a drink, unwind, get a little sleep and get back on the road. Let me tell you, Breit's is not the kind of place that you stop by for a beer. It's the kind of place that you have way to many and don't regret it. As soon as you arrive you know that everyone in the bar knows every detail of every other person's life. Not in a bad way. It felt as if this was the gathering place for when someone has passed, when someone achieves something great, when a neighbor needs a shoulder to lean on or just to gather to watch their favorite sporting event. There was a banner supporting the local high school alumni association. I can imagine the local high school reunions, the elation or disappointment after every Friday night football game, or the proud boast that comes when one of their own does good. All that being said, I was immediately made to feel welcomed. Someone at the bar(I wish I remembered their name) bought me a beer and somehow that was the code that I was part of the group. I was encouraged to have one the sandwiches and judging by the size of the "kitchen" I didn't have high hopes. I was soooo wrong. I ordered the Reuben and it was one of the best that I have ever had. If you are in the area, definitely stop by, get the reuben, and tell the bartender Tony that Brian from Phoenix says hi.

I just found my new favorite sandwich spot. As a non-native I’ve been searching since I moved here for a great sandwich. I’ve tried many of the top spots in KC/MO but nothing quite hit the spot. Until today. I had the pastrami + potato salad + pickle spears. My husband had the Italian sub + potato chips. Everything was phenomenal. The rye bread is delicious, the pastrami perfectly steamed, and the spicy mustard ties everything together. My husband couldn’t stop talking about how good his sub was. We also loved the sides. I’ll definitely be ordering their potato salad + pickle spears again. The prices are extremely reasonable, and the environment is exactly what you would expect at your friendly neighborhood pub. No complaints. 10/10

Here they are hiding in strawberry hill KCK in plain sight and have been for over 20 years. On the corner of 5th Street and Elizabeth This is the place to go for excellent deli food at a reasonable price. With plenty of street parking at this tavern. I Loved their Rubin and I'm sure to return with the princess to try some of the other menu items but the Rubin will be hard to beat. My friend also had the Rubin and his wife had the daily special, today it was a meatball sandwich. It looked excellent and said she enjoyed it. It was a bit cool and overcast today so the outdoor deck was not an option but looks quite inviting. This is a small place with more seating outside than inside. All in all this joint should be on your list very comfortable and laid back just what you would expect from a neighborhood bar.

My friends and I stopped here to grab lunch to-go as we were passing through KC. I like to find places off the beaten path and this was a hidden gem! Tucked in a neighborhood, this eatery/bar has a simple menu with a tasty KC Reuben sandwich on the menu. It was SO good! Everyone in our group loved their food and we are so glad we got to try this place out! Fyi, call in your order and you can save some money vs ordering online.

We had the worst service I’ve had ever in a local establishment.. I’m pretty easy going but if I’m paying.. & being met with rudeness & attitude for no reason , sounds like the business operates poorly & i probably won’t be back. We had Jack as our server, a terrible experience & drinking shots.. a sandwich took 45 minutes to get by the way.. a sandwich.. Anyways I’m not inclined to go back. Hope they organize the staff a little for their sake. This was my 2nd time here, drinks are affordable and the food did taste good i will say, others seem to enjoy it, i just wont pay for bad service.
