Townhall presents a tale of two dining experiences: a small, brightly lit front area resembling a cafe, and a stunning, more intimate main dining room in the back. The architecture and design of the main room were truly beautiful and created a lovely ambiance. My visit on a Wednesday evening began with a frustrating search for parking, which was nearly impossible to find nearby. Once inside, I ordered a good whiskey sour and the Townhall fries. The fries were decent, but their $15 price tag seemed steep. The main problem, however, was the half roasted chicken. From the first bite, it had a strong smell that was so unappetizing I couldn't finish it. Even after taking it home and trying to air fry it, the smell persisted, and the meal was a complete loss. Given the hassle of finding a parking spot and the inedible chicken, I have no plans to return.
The front of this establishment is nice and more welcoming to our vibe. But the back, which is essentially IN the kitchen, wasn’t really a great experience. The food overall wasn’t the greatest. My partner ordered a chicken dish which was sent back due to the lack of any seasoning. That dish was replaced with a pasta dish which was much better. The vegetarian dish I ordered was decent. The drinks were GREAT! The drinks and our waitress were the best part of this outing here.
Our oldest daughter treated us to this very nice restaurant. We sat at the bar which was was comfortable and the service was great. We got the house pasta, spicy ahi tuna, Cobb salad, carrots and sweet potato fries. The presentation of food was lovely. The food tasted as wonderful as it looked. (We shared the dishes so I was able to taste everything). I was pleasantly surprised at nice size portions of food. I would recommend if you want to pay a little more for good food and atmosphere.
The service here was absolutely incredible. The food was very good! The sweet potato fries have an incredible sauce are the perfect balance of crunchy and soft. We really loved the grilled cheese as well!
Town Hall is one of my favorite restaurants in Jacksonville and stands out even in San Marco Square which is filled with many delicious options. I have eaten at Town Hall probably 15 or more times now and the food is consistently delicious and unique. My partner and I have been lucky enough to slip into open seats at the bar many times, and we love to order a bunch of small plates to share. Their cocktails are always awesome too. The menu changes periodically so it's always fun to try what's new! Great spot for a date night and a yummy brunch, too.
Awesome restaurant in the San Marco area. Intimate, great food everything tasted great. Cooked to perfection. Be careful there's a LOT of truffle on the menu. They made a special exception and gave us a custom dessert that made our night. Highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.
Town Hall restaurant was a different experience. The front end has a great full bar and small tables for couples. There is a fun little seating area in front to enjoy watching people walk by. The drinks were unique, I ordered the Caribbean storm and it was delicious! Great job bartenders! The main restaurant is at the back of the restaurant and has mirrors all around which is odd and unique, it allows the customers facing the wall to see everything else going on in the restaurant. They also have an open kitchen so you can see them preparing food. We started with the crispy oysters and crispy brussel sprouts. Both dishes were delicious and plenty for a table of four. The oysters had a delicious sauce and pickled cucumber which paired great. For the main course, I was underwhelmed. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine with calabrian chili crunch. It was very spicy for my taste and the shrimp were very tiny. I added scallops because I love scallops. Unfortunately that was a mistake and a waste of money because the scallops were so salty I could hardly eat them. Chef... Scallops do not need a ton of salt! Overall, I was not at all happy with that entire dish and would not order it again. I took a taste of my friends fresh catch wahoo dish which was delicious and not too salty. I wish I had ordered that instead. Overall, it was a unique experience.
My fist impression it was good. It was for my b-day. Food is delicious but a little pricey considering the portions size. I went there specifically for their octopus and don’t get me wring it was delicious but very small. Other than that I have no comment, very nice service and ambience, great food. The scallops dish you see I had to pay extra to get “the bigger size” which to me is a regular size dinner. Anyway, worth trying.
This was our second time at Town Hall. We arrived at opening at 10 AM Sunday morning. The front of the house made it very apparent from the moment we walked in they were not thrilled about us dining. We were informed they would not have a table big enough if we needed use of a high chair for our son. At first we thought it just might be because they were busy but there was only one other group in the dining room. All other tables were open. It felt like all staff members continued to avoid our table during our meal. We had to wait quite some time for drink refills. About half our food came out lukewarm like it had been sitting a while. Overall, very disappointed with our experience. Even if unintentional, the initial interaction and avoidance sucked the wind out of our excitement to return back to Town Hall. I don’t foresee us making a return in the future.
Celebrated my birthday dinner here with my wife on a Friday night. The place was packed which set a lively atmosphere and we dove right in upon arrival. I ordered the half roasted chicken which came with potatoes and green beans. It was delicious! I also tried a bite of my wife’s shrimp fettuccine; it was just okay for me, though she really enjoyed it. For dessert, we shared the Limoncello Blueberry Cheesecake which was a great finish to the meal. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive throughout. The only drawback was the wait as it took almost an hour for our food to arrive. Overall, a nice experience despite the delay.
