I realize I’m an outlier because a lot of people seem to love this place. Maybe this just isn’t my cup of tea but I was pretty disappointed when we showed up. The whole place smells strongly of cigarette smoke which I do get because it’s a very open, seating outside but open to the inside kind of place. I just chose to get the cheese nachos and my husband got the garage chicken sandwich. He was content. I unfortunately had stuff floating in my water and my nachos must have been sitting and waiting because they were mushy and room temperature. The only thing I really enjoyed was the music- my millennial heart was happy with that. Maybe we will give it a second chance some day 🤷🏼♀️
Cute little place. Needs some deep cleaning. Items on the ceiling were full of dust and grime along with the bar area. Great architecture features. I had a Garage Top Dog, YUM. I’m from the Chicago suburbs and was jonesing for a dog and (chips), would have loved fries. ☺️
Aaron at the Stowaway was very Friendly! We’re glad we went there after our experience at “The garage” with the bartender (Hat backwards, beard) he was RUDE! Thank you Aaron for turning over experience around and having a great time!
After attending Riverside Wine Fest, my friends and I decided to skip the long food truck lines and head to Garage—somewhere we’ve been coming to for years, often with big groups including our Stonewall Sports crew. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing due to the attitude of the bartender/server (female, Caucasian, black hair, goth style, multi-colored jacket). When we walked in to order, she abruptly told us that if we came from the event, we needed to take our drinks outside the property. We fully understood and complied immediately—we barely had anything left anyway and simply had to carry them with us. We placed our order and waited outside as instructed. My husband accidentally forgot to take the number, and when she brought it out, she slammed it on the table and said, “Maybe if you take your number we can figure out where to deliver your pizza,” then walked away. Completely unnecessary attitude. We’ve supported this place for years because the food is consistently delicious, but the way we were treated on this visit was unacceptable. Until this staff member’s behavior is addressed, I can’t recommend Garage to anyone. Customer service matters just as much as good food.
Food was great. Garage sauce is awesome. Joe is a great bartender & waiter.
I have visited the Garage a few times. I have not eaten there what I do like about the Garage is that they have a variety of areas to have a drink in. The outside seating along the street is nice, they have cornhole and giant Jenga. Inside they have an open are bar area and a climate controlled area. Craft beers are available many of them local. Definitely, a nice place in Riverside to grab a beer and do some local bar hopping as a few other local bars are right across the street. The place has a decent vibe. The line at the bathroom can get lengthy during peak times.
Drinks are fine I guess however this is the 3rd time I’ve been here, ordered b4 my friends and got my food as they were 1/2 way into their food. I love Jillian but I will never order food here again.
Ordered a drink and their was nobody at the bar. The bartender seemed very nice but she couldn't make the drink I ordered correctly... On top of that her manager having absolute melt down over her over pouring!!! He had the audacity to come at me! made me never want to come back to this place ever again. The guy was shaking he was so mad lol. Been coming here for years but I can't say that would ever happen again after the way they acted today... Very weird vibe...
Was upset the they blocked all country music on the touch tunes. Like I get inappropriate music but really Garth and Brooks n Dun??? Okay…. How’s me the people you want here. Those who are okay waiting 45 minutes for cold pizza. Which is yet another reason I won’t be back. Bartender literally ask” oh I forgot about it, it’s back there if you still want it”. Like for real???
The perfect place to have a few drinks with friends. It has a great atmosphere and the service is really good. They have several types of beer and any cocktail you want, even the bartender helps you choose the ideal one according to your tastes. Without a doubt, a great place that you have to go to if you visit Jacksonville.
