I contacted Sclafmore construction about having my old concrete removed and installing new pavers and a new PVC fence. Ralph immediately answered the phone and told me he would come in the next morning. He arrived on time and quoted me the best of 3 bids that I had gotten so far. I decided to give him the job. Ralph's crew arrived ahead of schedule. I was very impressed by his trucks and all the equipment that they had. His crew were all professionally dressed and looked like a team not just a bunch of guys doing work! I can't express how cleanly and accurately all the work was done. The workers were very polite and focused on their work. I watched the entire job being done., and they answered any questions I had. When the pavers were being installed, they meticulously checked each paver and rejected quite a few that were broken or scratched.. One day one of the workers told me he found a $20 bill in my back yard, I asked my wife and it did indeed belong to her. That was a very honest thing he did. Because they were so nice I decided to pay for their lunch a couple of times. This was an expensive project and my wife and I are so very happy with the results. I can't thank Sclafmore enough for the beautiful job they did and I will recommend them to all my friends!!!!

I needed extensive brick work done to my home as well as a concrete driveway and sidewalk replacement. Ralph and team helped rebuild our brick front porch & steps. He listened to our needs and addressed unforeseen problems as they came up. He helped blend the new patio with an existing sidewalk and match the brick to the home (from the 40s) to look like it was always there. Would recommend and are planning to use him again for future projects

My husband and I have a quirky old (19th century) house in Astoria.  The front stoop and rear steps needed complete replacing (including digging down for deeper footings), the back mud room was subsiding and needed help, basement windows needing replacement and stucco on the foundation needed attention.  It took us 3 years to find the right contractor for this relatively small but complicated job (which we needed permits for since it was structural), in part because we are handy perfectionist types ourselves and needed the project to have a really great finish, and Sclafmore Construction came through for us on every level.  From his first visit to the house to look at the project, Ralph (the owner) was engaged and easy to talk to, and had excellent suggestions for how to reinforce the mud room rather than demolish it, which ended up being the best solution and saving us tens of thousands of dollars.  Ralph's quote was very reasonable for the project, he was patient while we waited for months for the permits to come through, and once it started the work was done quickly and with constant communication with us about our expectations and specifications for brick, mortar colors, bluestone, etc.  Ralph's foreman, Jose, is a pleasure to work with, and the whole crew was very respectful and efficient (we were living in the house during construction, needing access with a toddler).  Both the stucco work and brick work were done so perfectly and professionally, we have neighbors and other construction companies stopping to compliment it.   I would recommend Sclafmore Construction to anyone looking for masonry-type renovation work, and we plan to hire them again when it's time to redo our back yard.

I just had my kitchen completely renovated by Sclafmore Construction (gas, water and heating pipes relocated, walls taken down to the studs, etc.) and I can’t even put into words what a phenomenal job they did! The kitchen I had imagined is the kitchen I got! Ralph gave me an extremely reasonable estimate for the amount of work that had to be done. He promptly returned all phone calls and came to the job site often to check in. The Sclafmore construction crew was wonderful – professional, polite, reliable and a pleasure to work with and to have in my home (and they kept the work site clean). Sclafmore have done an amazing job for us at our home. I saw a board of theirs a few blocks away and added them to the roster of potential firms to replace the wooden front yard area & steps / stoop with a brick & bluestone. I met with Ralph who arrived on time for our first appointment and who then walked me through the options for the space, the challenges of matching up steps to our neighbor and their approach. This is the company you want to hire. They replaced my entire front porch, steps, walkway, driveway, and added new stone walls. Ralph was excellent to work with. He had great ideas and talked me through some design changes. He showed up when he said he would, the job took as long as he said it would take, and cost what we agreed on. The work done by the crew was fantastic. This was a pretty invasive remodel and even during demolition they did not just show up and start swinging hammers, but showed care and attention to detail throughout the whole process. I went with Sclafmore because of their experience in working on these masonry row houses and I was not disappointed. The final result is beautiful!

Sclafmore Construction redid the entire front of my home including new fencing, window well and grating, railings and all new cement. Two weeks later everything done with no problems.
