My husband ordered the fish and chips, and I are the soft pretzels, since I wasn't super hungry. Everything was enjoyable and server was friendly.
We took a little trip up to Jacksonville for the day and we got lunch from Hoptinger and here’s how it went: Pros: Everything about our visit was perfect! Our waitress was extremely nice and attentive. The food was great too! The appetizers we got (calamari and pretzels) were just incredible. A huge selection of beer on draft too and just an awesome vibe throughout the dining in experience. Cons: No notable cons! Overall 5 out of 5. If you’re in the Five Points neighborhood, I’d recommend you stop here if you’re looking for good food and beer selections.
Too expensive to forget food on an order, expect a tip, and the manager never call you back because they don’t care. This was my first time having this place in a long time and honestly it will be the last time. My bf picked up food and they forgot my fries, his fries were soggy, and they forgot his bacon which was an up charge. He will be writing his on one star review with a picture of his burger without bacon.
It was my second visit at the Hoptinger Beer Garden/ Sausage House with my wife. Kay Kay our server and Brennan the manager provided a SUPERB experience. Kay Kay delivered exceptional customer service with a beautiful smile. The Classic Hoptinger Hamburger and Beer Brat with French Fries are amazing and Highly recommended. Also the Salmon Salad was excellent. The beer tap list is also Incredible. A must visit establishment in the Jacksonville, Florida area with an amazing roof bar. We will definitely be coming back.😉
EVERYTHING was delicious! The smashburger 🍔 was our favorite, and the fries 🍟 were good and crispy. The service was quick, and everyone was friendly. Parking was limited in the immediate area. They have multiple levels; however, the door to the part downstairs isn't the same as the entrance to the rooftop bar. It's definitely worth a try. 👍
The service was great and the food was good on the 1 floor. When we first came we went to second floor and we asked did the serve food they said we stop serving food at 8pm I said well can we come up from the 1st floor after we eat he said it might be full to capacity by then when we came back the red guard was at the steps and I decided to go look it was not full to capacity it was just had a bunch of people that didn’t want to work and this was Wednesday night. I have a good review because 1st floor was fantastic service but second floor needs work.
Great spot for a good drink (lots of options on tap) and a nice bite. They have a large menu of options, and my son loved his bratwurst with saurkraut! The fried pickles and remoulade was very yummy, and the half rack of BBQ ribs was very beautiful and hit the spot! The chorizo mac amd chrese was a big hit too! Our server was excellent and gave us wonderful recommendations about the menus! This place is a good local meeting place for 5 points amd has plenty of comfortable space for large parties! The rooftop opens a little later in the day, but there is an excellent rooftop bar with games and a great view of the neighborhood. We frequent this place when we are near! They have cute merchandise too!
Been here a few times now. This experience was the first time having a not so friendly waitress. We sat at the bar during our visit. Halfway through, I think it was shift change and two gentleman waited on us and they were great! We ordered beer and food. Both were great. Great selection of beers, we tried a quad and an IPA. Ordered fried fish and shrimp and the food was delicious! Food came out quick too. Parking along street is free but limited. They also have a rooftop area if you would like to enjoy the views!
My wife and I stopped here for lunch as we were traveling through the downtown area of Jacksonville. The service was OK and the food was good. We ended up getting the Brats in a blanket, corn nuggets, cheese curds and fried pickles and they had a Wing special going on for lunch that was a pretty good deal. I did order the fries extra crispy and the chicken wings extra crispy and neither of them came out extra crispy. Also most of the curds were empty batter hulls as the cheese melted out of them. The parking is horrendous and unfortunately, the view out the window is nothing to get excited over. The decor seems kinda dated but all in all not a bad lunch overall.
Overall: Pass — Fries Were the Highlight I stopped in because I was staying at a nearby hotel. It’s in a great location and really should be doing better, but unfortunately it just didn’t deliver. I had already read reviews about the service, so I came in with low expectations. Our server (I wish I remembered her name) was attentive and made an effort, especially since we were seated outside. However, the water she brought had a hair in it—definitely hers. That kind of thing happens, but it took so long to get a replacement that I didn’t get fresh water until after my meal. She had to make several trips just to bring basic things like napkins, straws, and condiments. We were there during happy hour (4–7 PM), but we were charged full price anyway. She recommended the goat cheese, so I ordered the brats in a blanket, but the oven wasn’t working, so that wasn’t available. We got the cheese curds instead, which arrived at the end of the meal despite being ordered as a starter—and most of them barely had cheese inside. The burger I had was bland and forgettable. The one bright spot was the fries—crispy, well-seasoned, and honestly the only thing I really enjoyed. I’d come back just for fries and a cheap beer and be satisfied. Between the hair in the water, the delayed appetizer, and the oven issue, the meal really should have been comped or at least discounted. Also, two tables came in while we were there, looked over the menu, and left—probably expecting seafood, which makes sense for this area. The menu tries to offer too many different things and ends up feeling scattered. All in all, I’d say pass unless you’re just stopping in for fries and a drink.
