Giving this location one star only because on today 07/15/24 the SECURITY GUARD was walking around harassing me and my mom the entire time and when confronted stated “Don’t talk to me talk to the manager“ in a very rude manner. Then when asked his name stated “I don’t have to give that information” . He had no badge information at all. We definitely found some good items but won’t be going back to this location, because who wants to spend money (on inexpensive items at that) and be harassed the whole time. Definitely racial profiling and I wish I could file a complaint to upper management but the number that was given from the store wasn’t a direct number to corporate. This was our first time and definitely the last time going to this location.
First time visiting Goodwill in Memphis. I donated a few items and was treated kindly. I decided to visit the store but as soon as I walked in, the security guy harassed me around until I left (empty handed) he even walked outside to see me. Super creepy. Prices are ridiculously high. I recommend everyone to spend your hard earned money elsewhere and to take your donations to another charity. 😞
I was in the Union store last week and overcharged for over half of my items. The person checking attempted to charge 5.99 for 1.99 t-shirts. It was clearly marked 1.99. Also, I agree that they are extremely overpriced on a lot. Simple things like one mugg may be .99 and another very similar in terms of size, shape, and style may be 2 to 3 times as much. This store actually has the highest prices of all the others I have shopped.
One of my favorite Goodwill locations in Memphis. The store is always clean and as well-organized as a Goodwill tends to be. The workers are always very nice! The prices here have gotten a little out of hand on some items, but there are still good deals to be found on a lot of things.
Just like others have said, security here is a joke. The guy sits up front and occasionally does rounds and just stares at whoever his suspect is at the time. This particular day a man was peeing just outside the door on the post and when two women came in telling him he just shrugged and did nothing about it. A man is literally peeing with his junk out at the entrance and that's not an issue but the shopper with tattoos who comes in every couple of weeks and spends money is definitely priority.
They weren't open yet, so I dropped off stuff by the donation door. They need an after-hours drop box or sum.
I went to union Ave. To donate a chair. It had some tape on one of the arms. They told me they have to refuse my donation because of the tape. Union ave is the worst store ever. I took it to Winchester and they greatly accepted the chair.
Maybe someday this location will have carts for people to use? It's been months since I've been able to shop there. Even with the lot half empty there are no carts. Guess my money will be spent somewhere that acts like customers matter.
It is smaller than the location on Winchester and Riverdale is definitely get the job done. The staff is friendly, but please be mindful that they want to get out in a timely manner so if you need assistance by all means, please 20 minutes ask before closing. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to venture into the mattress area or the electronics. I do know they had a lot to choose from.
Came 10 before open. At 10 am there was easily 20 people waiting outside the door including elderly and disabled people. As of right now it’s 15 past 10 and they still haven’t opened. It’s a heatwave outside and too hot to be letting people wait outside and some of us were planning to get in and out quickly before heading to work. There were other employees at the donation center in the back taking donations and sweeping. They said they had said something to the manager and many people complained to him but nothing continued to happen.
