Best car rental in brickel and great for 21+
I paid G.M. Luxe $4,329.50 and never received a car. Not for a day, not for an hour, not for a single mile. As I write this, they still have all of it - and their answer to my refund request was an offer to "upgrade" me. Here's the full sequence so you know exactly what you're walking into. I booked their 2019 Mercedes GLC63S for about 4 weeks and paid in full up front, including a $500 deposit and an extra fee for delivery to my hotel. Before and after payment came a verification gauntlet I've never experienced with any rental company in any country: a physical Amex card, a selfie holding it, screenshots from inside my Amex app showing my name and rental coverage, and requests over WhatsApp for photos showing my full card number - which no legitimate business should ever ask a customer to send over chat. When I couldn't produce the physical card on the spot - I provided everything else - their solution was to charge me an extra $1,500 for their own in-house insurance "in the meantime," to be refunded whenever I could show them the plastic. That demand appears nowhere in the listing or the contract. It was invented after they had my money. The car that arrived looked nothing like the listing. The listing photos show a completely different, newer Mercedes interior. Trying to make it work, my girlfriend and I went to their shop 30 minutes away and spent hours there going through alternatives. We opened the BMW X6 they offered and found a knife inside it. Then, hours into this, came a brand-new requirement: a physical license, demanded while I was standing in their shop and it was back at my hotel - the exact place they had been paid to deliver the car. I missed a friend's event trying to make this rental happen. When I finally walked away and asked for my money back, I was pointed to their "strict non-refundable" policy. Read this part carefully: my contract's cancellation window closed on July 4th. I booked on July 18th. The booking was 100% non-refundable before it even existed. That is the policy they are using to keep $4,329.50 for a car they never handed over. Their own staff confirmed in writing that no vehicle was ever released to me. The next day I rented from another company nearby with the exact same documents. Approved and driving within the hour. Friendly, transparent, zero drama. So the problem was never my paperwork - it was everything on their side of the counter. A business that promotes how much revenue it generates should not need to keep $4,329.50 from a customer it never gave a car to - after trying to add $1,500 on top. The money is now with the card issuer's dispute process, where the paper trail speaks for itself. If G.M. Luxe does the right thing and refunds in full, I'll gladly update this review to say so. Until then: compare the listing photos to the real car before you pay, read the cancellation dates on your contract before you sign, never send your card details over chat, and honestly - just rent somewhere else.
