When an avenue to build a new home in our current neighborhood appeared, my husband and I contacted Edward Franklin to explore what was possible. At our initial meeting, it was clear they had a very unique set of expertise focused on designing functional, urban homes in urban environments. We shared our wishlist, hopes, and dreams with the team (all of whom were present at each meeting). They worked with us to contract an architect, established a realistic budget, and brought our entire vision to life in about a year. Friends/family constantly warned us how trying the process of building a home is and how stressful it would become. Our experience was a complete bright spot. This home became our north star. We watched it being built, felt totally included in every part of the process, and had so much fun. We genuinely looked forward to calls from the team and onsite meetings. The team at Edward Franklin met with us regularly and followed a very thorough design process. They listened, helped us discover our own "style", and brought ideas to us based on our needs/wants. We never stepped into an overwhelming showroom environment. We had a completely private design experience guided by an expert team which uniquely included a person solely responsible for finances (keeping our budget in check). Communication was open, honest, and fluid from start to finish. During the building phase, we visited the site often and were encouraged to ask questions or raise concerns. We felt heard and taken care of at every single stage. After the home was completed, Edward Franklin offered a year long warranty and support to cover any type of issues. We didn't encounter anything major, but have leaned on them for minor/ expected "new home" repairs. This group is professional, seasoned, and creative. In our experience, Edward Franklin is the strongest and most innovative building group in Kansas City. We cannot imagine using anyone else to build (or renovate) a home. Our house is beautiful and a perfect fit for our family of four. It exceeded expectations and we are validated daily on selecting Edward Franklin as our builder. We would highly recommend Edward Franklin to anyone seeking to build a beautiful, custom home in the Kansas City metro.

I’ve had outstanding experiences working with Edward Franklin Building Company, both personally and professionally. In a professional capacity, I worked with EFBC on a highly technical residential home build that incorporated commercial-level and non-standard residential construction details, along with a number of non-traditional materials. Edward Franklin’s commitment to adhering to the project’s stringent tolerances and specifications — and their willingness to leverage every available resource to meet those standards — was exemplary. The result was a magnificently successful and singularly beautiful home. During that project, after witnessing the level of care and creativity poured into the home’s layout and interior design, I asked EFBC if they would assist with the interior design for the remodel of my own home. We bought a spec home from Edward Franklin, and can't say more about how incredible the team has been throughout the buying and post sale process. Other contractors who have been in our house frequently comment on the high quality of the build, and the level of detail and care that they took with our home. While we didn't design this, we can't think of a better home and we're thrilled after being here for 1.5 years. I had a terrible experience with these builders and would not use them or recommend them to anyone. The house is structurally pretty great but the attention to details with the finishes was terrible for the price paid. There's uneven drywall, stone with cracks in it that they later "repaired" but didn't really repair, completely unfinished smart home features, a large 20k+ door that doesn't open. It took 9 months over the timeframe we were originally estimated. The original estimate increased by 50% because they underestimated costs on things....like cabinets that were supposed to be 30k ended up 130k. They refuse to provide receipts. They reused my plans twice in the same subdivision. They are nice guys but completely irresponsible and 18 months after "completion" are still not complete. Overall, they do not supervise their subs and could care less what the final product looks like if you've paid up. Save yourself some headaches and legal bills.

I have had a great experience working with the Edward Franklin team. Their industry knowledge is extensive and I found it very easy to communicate with Chris and Cody. They talked through each step of building, providing reassurance and answering my questions. The team was attentive and trustworthy, always following through.

My wife and I couldn’t be happier that we chose EF to build our dream home. The build process surpassed our expectations with flawless coordination, planning, and execution. The creative energy and dedication they display day in day out is first-class. I’m so glad we not only now have our dream home but also friends for life.

Working with the EF team is and has been such a pleasure. From a service standpoint their systems flow- from the first meeting of discussing ideas and brainstorming, to wrapping up to-do’s at the end of the project. It’s a clear path and there isn’t any wondering what’s next. You know what to expect, what your selections you have chosen, when the flow of construction will begin, and in the end- the follow-up and completion of the punch list. From a creative point of view, I appreciate how we were able to sit down with the team and go through the design process with Cody, and at the same time, have Paul advise on the cost. There’s nothing more disappointing than making selections and then discovering that aren’t in your desired budget. What else I appreciate is during the design process, it is about what works best in the space, and not necessarily being dominated by the latest trend of the moment. Edward Franklin offers a pleasant, quality, and creative experience.
