Very warm welcoming. Instantly loved the place and their outdoor seating area! Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu items and helped us decide what to get and suggested the combo plates, so we could try a variety of food. Everything was SO GOOD! 10/10 recommend

One thing about this place is, it’s consistent! The food, the portions, the staff, and the overall experience! I always know I’m going to get a good meal that taste so good every time with a very chill and relaxed dining experience. I always leave with leftovers and know that I can always count on this place to give me the best Hawaiian bbq.

We met here with out of town friends on April 30, 2024; three of us are from Hawaiʻi, so it was the perfect place to meet. The food was wonderful! I had the guava chicken, which was broke da mouth, and my friend had the teriyaki ahi, which she said was perfect and was so happy that all of their shoyu is gluten free. Hubby had the Sweet & Sour Veggie Stir Fry, which he really liked. We were so busy talking that I forget what my other friend had! He pronounced it delicious. The mac salad was fantastic! Our server was outstanding! (I wish I knew his name.) He made sure we were well taken care of, was friendly and helpful, and made us feel extremely welcome. Highest praise to him; he's a real asset to the restaurant. We were there for two hours, and had so much to catch up on, but our server never rushed us. He took photos for us at our request, and did a great job with that, too. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Everything about our time there was terrific!

My family came here for lunch on a Friday. It wasn't too crowded and we didn't have trouble finding parking. Service was great! For two adults and one child, it cost us about $45. The plates were very full, I feel like we certainly got our money's worth in amount and flavor.

That Mac salad. So good. I have never had a bad meal (plate) here. Consistent flavors and when you are craving some great meats this is your spot.

09/27/2025 (Sat) Ever since a friend first took us here, it became one of our favorite spots, and we’ve come countless times. However, because it always seemed crowded and is a bit far, we hadn’t had the chance to visit recently—it had been about three years since our last visit. When we came back, the outdoor seating had changed quite a bit. Previously, there were seats on both sides, but now they’re only along one side, which makes it feel more spacious. Also, the wall between the indoor back seats and the outdoor area has been removed, creating an even more open and inviting atmosphere. The food was as delicious as always. We enjoyed the Korean Style Ribs (L) for $25.25, Loco Moco (M) for $16, and Pole Lolo for $17, along with a Fort George IPA ($7) and Mango Juice ($4.50). Our server was cheerful and friendly, making the experience even better.😊✨

My favorite place so far in Portland for Hawaiian food. The large platter is enough food for two people to share. Ate here twice and I enjoyed it, will be back soon. Great service as well.

Great food and amazing service. The server was on top of refilling drinks, she even brought a cleaning towel so I did not have to go all the way to the bathroom when my hand became sticky. There was no wait at 6pm on a Saturday and food was quick to arrive.

My wife and I were invited to Bamboo Grove to celebrate a friend's birthday party last Saturday night, and despite Hawaiian cuisine being among my least favorites, I thoroughly enjoyed the Chop Steak I ordered, subbing out the ubiquitous macaroni side for a bleu cheese salad instead. In fact, I would go as far as to say the Chop Steak was the best Hawaiian dish I've had at any such establishment. I would absolutely order it again! My wife opted for the kalua pork, with some musubi to start that, unfortunately, kept falling apart in our hands, despite our best attempts to keep them together. Still tasty, but a little hard to handle and keep intact. Between the two of us, we also enjoyed the Hawaiian Iced Tea and a Black Tai to wash everything down. Service was prompt and attentive, which is impressive considering it was just one woman (one of the owners, I believe) holding down our massive table of ~12, plus all the other tables in the back room with us. Orders arrived promptly, accurately, and most important: deliciously, and without incident, for every member of our large party, which is far less common than it should be. And no one seemed to mind when our curious, adventurous toddler began wandering around, exploring the entire restaurant, smiling and babbling away! Interior aesthetic is charming: they've certainly made an effort to give it that Big Island feel, which is a nice touch. All in all, we were quite impressed with everything Bamboo Grove had to offer, and I could easily see us returning in the future, the next time my wife and I feel the need to reminisce about our time in Hawaii, since this is about as close as you can get to enjoying the cuisine of the 50th state without actually boarding a flight!

Been meaning to try this place for awhile now and finally did last night. So glad I did. Great food, cool atmosphere, and great friendly service. Really enjoyed our meal. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. Definitely going to have this place in my regular rotation and can’t wait for summer to enjoy their outdoor space.
