The GREEN Program

My experience with The Green Program has been nothing short of amazing. A few years back, I had the opportunity to work with Melissa and her team on a program in Philadelphia. Everything was well organized, student centered, and fun! More importantly, The Green Program focuses on creating transformative experiences for anyone seeking not only to contribute some good to the world, but also to grow by leaps and bounds as individuals. To accomplish this, The Green Program offers a mix of academic content, leadership training, cultural immersion, and physical skill building to holistically engage each person in the program. For anyone seeking to join a program, or send their students/kids to this program, I offer The Green Program my highest recommendation.

The GREEN Program is truly the best. I have been with the program since 2011 and have traveled to 5 countries with them! It's the perfect balance of learning about your passions for renewable energy and sustainability while also having fun and making friends along the way. The team is always accommodating to your needs while also encouraging you to be the best version of yourself. Any program you choose will be a unique experience :)

I absolutely cannot rave enough about how great The GREEN Program is! I went on my first trip with them in 2012 to Costa Rica and since then I have been on 14 more trips with them to Iceland, Nepal, Thailand, Japan, Croatia, Patagonia, New Orleans, and various American Natinal Parks. It is like a study abroad program on steroids. You get to learn about new cultures, get hands on experiences dealing with sustainable energy and water technolgies, see first hand how climate change is affecting different places and how people are trying to adapt, and so much more! But maybe the best part is meeting and befriending other like-minded individuals from all walks of life that are passionate about making the world a better place. The GREEN Program truly is a life-changing, one of a kind experience that you shouldn't missout on!

I have gone on two Green Programs! Belize and Indonesia, both were amazing! In Belize we explored the coral reefs while learning directly from local leaders about ocean conservation and community led sustainability. In Indonesia we followed the flow of money from personal finance to climate funds, and saw firsthand how it fuels real world impact in renewable energy projects. These are not just trips, they are deep hands on learning experiences that connect you with incredible people on the frontlines of sustainability! These programs give a whole new perspective on what is possible for the future of our planet! 💚

Participating in one of TGP's programs was one of the best decisions I've made! I attended a January Iceland program and had a life changing experience full of memories to last a lifetime! If you're thinking about a TGP program I would highly recommend it. The TGP staff pre-trip was so helpful in answering any trip questions I had, then while on my trip - I felt so comfortable with the local guides and program lead! Highlights: Glacier Walk, learning from professors at Reykjavik University, and the bonding with other students!

The GREEN program was the BEST possible way I could have explored Peru. There were so many amazing people and experiences throughout the whole trip. I would recommend 100x over, go!! Even if you don’t know anyone coming into the program, you will leave with amazing friends.

The experience was everything I expected and more. The program was so influential and made impact on many lives and environments. I had a great time and highly recommend joining the Green Program in making a difference!

10 years post-adventure and I am a proud local climate action leader and sustainability professional. The GREEN Program inspired a lost college senior to become a sustainability leader. I went back to school, graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Energy and Sustainability Policy from Penn State University, and work to decarbonize our electricity grid as a commissioning coordinator for utility-scale battery projects. I have completed 1 climate action plan and 2 sustainability plans since my studies. To say this program changed my life is an understatement - it is a unique opportunity to explore the work of sustainability with a global mix of students, each contributing vastly to the overall experience and takeaway. A MUST EXPERIENCE for anyone interested in sustainability and how to apply it in our modern world.

I traveled to Iceland with TGP in 2018 and it was a life-changing experience. Everything during the program was taken care of which allowed me the time and capacity to fully immerse myself in the culture, excursions, and classes. I can't recommend enough!

I just returned from the summer trip to Iceland and it was by far one the best experiences I have ever had. Everything from the guides to participants to itinerary was fantastic and I loved every minute. I made amazing bonds with my fellow participants and got to explore some of the best parts of Iceland which is an amazing country. The lectures were interesting, relevant, and done by experts in their fields and the site visits provided a first hand experience. My guides, Erla and Bjarni were fantastic, funny and helped to make the experience even better. The trip is filled to the brim with great activities like camping in the highlands, hiking to natural hot springs, and walking on glaciers. It was truly a once in a lifetime trip that has my highest recommendations.
