After tearing a ligament in my foot, I was stuck on a knee scooter for 9 months and my Kaiser doctors were out of suggestions. I got an outside referral to HealthWell, and Rafaela got me off the scooter within a month. Rafaela has great expertise in how to re-strengthen the small muscles in my feet and ankles that had been getting a free ride while my ligament healed. I have hypermobility, which HealthWell specializes in. It was key finding a therapist who understands what that means for PT, and who can also incorporate fascial release and alignment work into treatment. Rafaela is positive and kind, and it's no exaggeration to say she gave me my life back.
THESE are the people and THIS is the place! Rafaela has helped me immensely with long term, somewhat complex pain issues that are the fallout from many very active years with undiagnosed hypermobility. I've been to so many practitioners over the years (LA, east bay, north bay, and the City) and this is honestly the first time ever I've had enough improvement to give me the hope needed to maintain motivation to continue on this path. Karen, who I worked with when Rafaela was traveling, is also wonderful. As is office manager Michael! The next-level expertise and deep, empathetic care from the entire staff here is unparalleled. 10/10!
Brianna is the ultimate healer . She is solution-centric, positive , and affirming. She has a deep knowledge of complex conditions. Her approach has been transformative to my health. I had the pleasure of working with Mindy Marantz as my physical therapist, and I can't praise her enough for the incredible relief I experienced! Her use of Fascial Counterstrain tools was unlike any other therapy I've ever received. The relief was immediate, and it's evident that her approach is advanced and sophisticated. I've been going to Healthwell for back problems. I have nothing but good things to say about them and especially Megan. We check on my progress each week and if something isn't working we change it making my goals very reachable. Megan is very empathetic and easy to work with. I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and just wow!! This is the place to go if you have EDS/HSD, back problems, cranio-cerivcal instability (CCI), or other chronic conditions. They have more expertise on hypermobility than any other place I have ever been. I did not know how unhelpful my previous physical therapists had been until I came here and saw how much benefit and potential physical therapy can have. Shout out to my current physical therapist Brianna because she is just a wealth of knowledge, so helpful, and so kind. I'm learning so much from her. Highly recommend!!
Healthwell is such a wonderful physical therapy group. My PT, Megan, is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and thoughtful about my care. I have long COVID, which manifests as ME/CFS (chronic fatigue), and Megan is very attentive to the specific challenges of my chronic illness—specifically not pushing myself too hard and avoiding post exertional malaise. Megan also takes an overall approach of accounting for life activities (eg changing a diaper, folding clothes, climbing stairs) as exercise… and co-creating a balanced approach to pacing myself. While Healthwell doesn’t take all insurance, they do work with you on a reasonable visit max and submit to insurance on your behalf. This is a huge plus, and I’m very grateful for them going the extra mile when so many out of network or out of pocket providers don’t. A+ for Healthwell.
I am so thankful I am being treated by Healthwell. I am in the best care with the most amazing person. Carolyn is a gifted PT and a wonderful person to help on the journey to improving health, plus she is a world of information with referrals and suggestions.
