The advertisement department deserves a Hugh bonus. See the USA Song will now be in the brains of a new generation. I'm from the old generation and every time I hear the song I look up. Thanks for the memories. Donna Shockley.

Why does Detroit need Detroit to Promise Scholarships when there is Financial Aid? Initially, I believed that Detroit Promise was to get in there and help out. To cover things that Financial Aid did not, or make the student feel appreciated, and to make up for the economical difference of geographical low income. However, it’s a good thought gone bad. Today, Detroit Promise is just a substitute after Financial Aid. Detroit Promises hollers that it gives full tuition scholarships, however, my son only seen $300 the whole year. We are Detroit residents and a GPA of 3.8. However, the Detroit Promise staff is negative. They think mailing each Detroit Student who resides in Detroit and attend any participating Detroit Promise Scholarship Program a check in the amount $2,400 is unnecessary. Why? We mail tons of magazines subscriptions each. Mailing one paper check to local residences, it a giant paper reduction, meaning it more feasible than the former. Also, I don’t believe its unfair. The whole purpose of this scholarship was to acknowledge Detroit residences. Another fault I find with the staff or the procedure is how long it takes to receive the funds. In cases, where financial aid, takes a ridiculous amount of time to process funds, my sons still had to wait and notified Detroit Promise of an outstanding balance only afterward. Which took two additional weeks. There was a hold on his account. He could not apply to Wayne University. This hold was clamped on from January 2019 to June 2019. It also prevented him from going to summer school. However, Detroit Program Staff, think this is fair. Sending this money on a whirlwind, outdated ride, because they feel the money is too good for the student to receive themselves. Their attitude had caused a lot of damage to the community. Matter of fact, this is the very attitude that had impeded a lot of potential “Good” programs from succeeding in Detroit.
