Loved this place! My husband and I took our elopement pictures there and they were stunning! So much to see and love the diversity and pop ups and live music! We visit each time we’re in SD 🤗 we have taken our baby girl as well and she seems to enjoy the sunshine and nice architecture everywhere. Here are some photos of the times I’ve been there. Great place to get in some steps.

Beautiful amazing Park that hosted the 1915 World's Fair, with many many buildings still around from that time. Free guided tours given. The guided tours are very enjoyable and please tip well as they are volunteers

The ladies at the welcome centre helped direct us to the main sights. Then off we went with out highlighted map to check it all out. Grabbed some flavoured ice cream by the fountain as it was hot when we went in August.

5/5 Stars: Pure Joy at Balboa Park in San Diego with family. Oh, what a day it was! We recently spent an unforgettable afternoon at Balboa Park in San Diego, and it was truly a day filled with joy, laughter, and wonder. The sun was shining bright, casting a warm glow over the entire park, and we couldn't wait to explore all that it had to offer. As soon as we arrived, our little one's eyes lit up when they received a balloon from one of the vendors, and their smile just kept growing throughout our visit. We strolled through the beautiful Spanish-style buildings, admiring the stunning architecture and taking in the lively atmosphere. The sound of live music filled the air, adding to the park's infectious energy. We were blown away by the park's beauty, from the picturesque water fountains to the vibrant gardens. Every corner seemed to hold a new surprise, and we couldn't get enough of it. We didn't have time to visit the nearby San Diego Zoo or any of the museums on this trip, and we're already planning our next adventure back to Balboa Park. If you're looking for a day filled with joy, wonder, and excitement, look no further than Balboa Park in San Diego. It's a must-visit destination for anyone looking to create unforgettable memories with family and friends. We can't wait to go back and experience it all again! **One Note:** While Balboa Park is truly a gem, it's worth noting that there are some homeless people in the area. While they didn't bother us during our visit, it's something to be aware of, especially if you're visiting with young children. Despite this, we still highly recommend Balboa Park as a must-visit destination in San Diego.

If you’re looking for a day out, this would be a great addition to your plans. Get on a good pair of walking shoes, this place is massive and has loads to do. I’d recommend the Japanese Friendship Garden ($16pp) and stroll around all the free parks and gardens. Grab lunch at Prado, and sit outside for a wonderful view while you eat. The Spanish art village was a quirky and cool place to wander around (if you’re into art). We also went to the Air and Space Museum which encased a tonne of aviation history, with only had a small section on space… still worth the visit, if you have kids or you’re interested in aviation.

Great for walk, picnic and enjoy the sunset. Nearby the zoo, you can take the bus stop and just walk a few minutes. Most exhibits charge. Botanical garden is the main event. Recommend for family.
